Jairo Torres is on his way out of Major League Soccer after he and the Chicago Fire agreed to terminate the 23-year-old’s contract, according to The Athletic’s Tom Bogert.
The move opens up a designated player and senior roster slot for the Fire ahead of the 2024 Major League Soccer season, something Chicago needed to do after a plethora of offseason additions.

Torres failed to meet expectations with the Fire after joining the club in 2022 for a reported $6 million from Liga MX side Atlas. After scoring only eight professional goals in almost 6,000 minutes in Mexico, Torres didn't score or log an assist for Chicago in over 1,400 minutes during his two seasons in Major League Soccer.
By utilizing a mutual contract termination, the Fire can still use their buyout on another player should they seek to do so.
