Born and educated in Sydney, Gordon played his first rugby for the Canterbury Juniors. After the completion of his schooling in 2011, Gordon signed with the Sydney University Football Club, where he faced such tough competition that it was four years before he secured a spot in the top grade.

In 2015, he had an outstanding season in both the Shute Shield and with the Sydney Stars; he also trained with the Waratahs.

Jake Gordon made his Super Rugby debut in 2017 against the Lions in Johannesburg and was called into his first Wallabies squad the following year and made his debut in the starting nine jersey against Italy in Padova on the Spring Tour. In 2021, the 31-year-old was named the captain and has gone on to represent the NSW Waratahs on 106 occasions, including 105 in Super Rugby.

“I’m really happy to be able to commit my future to New South Wales and Australian Rugby for a further two years, I have strong confidence in the direction the Waratahs are heading in and I want to continue to work hard to contribute to the success to the team.

“I felt I had my best year for the Wallabies in 2024 and I’m certainly hoping to continue that progress and put my best foot forward to be part of the major milestones coming up here on home soil in the Lions Series and home Rugby World Cup.” Said Jake Gordon in a press conference.

Gordon’s re-signing follows that of fellow Wallabies Len Ikitau, Fraser McReight, Nick Frost, Harry Wilson, Jeremy Williams, Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Matt Philip, Isaac Kailea, and Lachlan Lonergan in recent times.
