Jamal Musiala has been Bayern’s golden boy for a while now, dazzling fans with his footwork and fearless play. But during a tense clash with PSG, the 22-year-old found himself at the center of a moment no football fan ever wants to see.

While chasing the ball, Musiala collided hard with Donnarumma and what happened next was the kind of gut-wrenching scene that makes you look away from the screen. It looked like one of those nightmare injuries that can haunt a player’s career, but thankfully, there’s a glimmer of good news that has everyone breathing a little easier.

A leg break is an injury that can take months to recover from. Even then, when a player comes back it's never fully at the level they played before. At first, when the videos emerged, there was a fear that it might be a career-ending injury for Musiala. Luckily, that is not the case according to YouTuber and Doctor, Brian Sutterer.

Sutterer makes detailed videos about injuries in sport, what happened, how serious the injury is and the timeline for recovery. Speaking about Musiala’s injury he said, “This is something that I would anticipate is going to have an impact on his upcoming club season. The other concern about this is not so much career threatening nature but the career impact. What we see on the video is the bones and the joints but we don’t see the ligaments … the damage to them is what is going to have recurrent pain recurrent swelling.”

Sutterer also pointed out another bit of good news, the injury isn’t an open wound fracture, so the skin stayed intact.

That might not sound like much, but it helps lower the risk of nasty infections that can make things way more complicated. Overall, he reassured fans that this definitely isn’t a career-ending situation for Musiala.

A lot depends on how the muscles, nerves and tendons around the break heal, but if all goes well, he should be able to bounce back just fine.
