Tottenham are front-runners for Bayern Munich star Harry Kane’s signature

Ex-Tottenham star Harry Kane has taken the Bundesliga by storm since his move to Bayern Munich in 2023. The England international is scoring goals for fun in Germany, proving he is more than capable of facing the best in the world. His all-round game, along with his ability to find the back of the net, puts him in the elite category of forwards right now.

The 32-year-old has started this season with a bang as well. As per SofaScore, Kane has racked up 13 goals and three assists in just seven games in all competitions. The legendary striker’s hat-trick in Bayern’s last outing perfectly summed up his form, with the Englishman showing he is one of the best poachers around.

So, it is only fair to assume that Kane would have broken the all-time Premier League goalscoring record had he stayed at Tottenham. Michael Owen also questioned the England international’s move to Bayern Munich, as he could not understand why the 32-year-old moved to pastures new when he was within touching distance of beating Alan Shearer’s record.

Tottenham dreaming of a Harry Kane return next summer

It was reported earlier that Tottenham are hoping to land Harry Kane in 2026. The England international has a £56.7 million release clause in his Bayern Munich contract that is set to be activated next year. The Lilywhites are reported to be the frontrunners for the 32-year-old’s signature, as he shares a close relationship with the Lewis family.

But Jamie O’Hara cannot understand why the legendary striker would want to return to N17 again. Speaking to Sky Sports (via X), O’Hara said,

“Obviously Harry Kane has got a proven track record of scoring goals. He’s going to score goals if comes back at 33. He’s a legend at Tottenham, a proper legend. You know, he’s got the all-time goalscoring record which is going to be hard to beat. So if he comes back, what’s he gaining?”

The ex-Spurs player added,

“The only reason he’s coming back to the Premier League is to get Shearer’s record. Can he do that at Tottenham? Probably… If he’s given the tools and stays fit. But when a legend returns, does it always work out? I don’t know. You’re expecting a player you had before. But most of the time the player’s aged and things are different. I just don’t know why would he want to come back.”

Jamie O’Hara believes Harry Kane will continue scoring goals if he returns to Tottenham next summer. The ex-player, however, has raised questions about the England international’s decision to head back to N17, as Kane does not have anything left to achieve in North London. O’Hara admits the 32-year-old is considering a return to break Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record before he retires, though the pundit believes the legendary striker could ruin his legacy if the move does not work out.

A Spurs homecoming for Harry Kane is something that would raise the roof at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next year. The 32-year-old is a fan favourite at the club, and there is no doubt he deserves to end his career at the North London club after giving his all for the Lilywhites over the years.
