While Bayern Munich were able to win on Wednesday against 1. FC Köln, and thus finish the opening half of the Bundesliga season on a high, there is still cause for concern due to the lack of options coach Vincent Kompany has available for the right-back position in particular.

As noted above, the right back position has been hit the hardest when it comes to injuries or other absences. This Bayern Munich injury report is so full of players who play that position, forcing Kompany to improvise against Leipzig.

Konrad Laimer is easily the most underrated player at the club. He works for the team like no other and does the dirty work in any position where he is needed.

Laimer suffered a torn muscle fibre in his left calf in the late stages of Wednesday’s Köln game and will certainly be out for the time being.

To make matters even worse, Sacha Boey, the last resort right-back, whom Bayern have been hoping to sell during this January transfer window, is also out with illness.

Meanwhile, midfield maestro Joshua Kimmich, who plays right-back for Germany, has been suffering from ankle problems since last November, and will likely also not be able to help out against Leipzig on Saturday evening.
