Transfer plans are already taking shape at Manchester United, with the club preparing for a crucial summer window after securing Champions League football in impressive fashion.
A strong finish to the campaign has only reinforced the belief that this squad can compete at the highest level, but there is also a clear understanding that depth and long-term planning will be key moving forward.
While big-name signings are expected to dominate headlines in the coming months, the club’s recruitment strategy continues to place major emphasis on youth development and building for the future.
That long-term vision has taken another step forward with the arrival of a highly-rated young talent into the academy setup.
Manchester United have officially secured the signing of Jaxon Bourne-Wood, who will join the club’s Under-9 side ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The announcement was made on Instagram by Coach Hene Sports Club, a Manchester-based community organisation founded in honour of late Ghana national team coach E K Afranie, who have played a key role in nurturing the youngster’s early development.
Confirming the move via Instagram, the club shared: “Jaxon from our U8 Eagles has signed for the prestigious Manchester United Academy, and we can’t wait to see him get started.
“Jaxon will continue his development with Manchester United’s U9 first team.
“He was an absolute joy to watch during his time with our U8 Eagles, and we’re confident he’ll go on to do the same, and even more, in a professional environment.”
The post featured a series of images capturing the special moment, with Jaxon Bourne-Wood surrounded by friends and family as he put pen to paper, while Manchester United legend Gary Neville was also present to mark the occasion.
His arrival highlights the growing relationship between grassroots football initiatives and elite academies, with United continuing to tap into local talent pipelines to strengthen their youth ranks.
The signing also reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to identifying players at an early age and providing them with the platform to develop within one of the most competitive academy systems in world football.
Goshen Ishicheli was also recently confirmed as a new addition to the academy setup.
Cole and Marcel has joined Manchester United’s youth ranks as part of the same intake.
