Barcelona president Joan Laporta has spoken about what he’s learned from Marcus Rashford, highlighting a key trait that stands out to him.
Marcus Rashford was officially unveiled as a Barcelona player this week, completing his move away from Manchester United after spending time on loan at Aston Villa last season.

The 27-year-old had spoken openly about wanting to play for Barcelona, and under Ruben Amorim, it became clear there was no path back into the side at Old Trafford.
He ended up leaving in January, joining Villa on loan for the second half of the campaign. Despite having an option to buy for £40m, Aston Villa chose not to make the deal permanent.
Marcus Rashford returned from Villa Park after his loan deal ended on 30th June, and the new Barcelona summer signing made his way back to Old Trafford in July.
But the England international wasn’t included in Ruben Amorim’s pre-season plans and had been training alone at Carrington.
Rashford had been looking for a new club, and after Barcelona missed out on Nico Williams, the former Aston Villa man became a top target for them.
Speaking at Rashford’s unveiling on Wednesday, Joan Laporta said that the Manchester United player was clearly “excited” about joining the club.
“We are very happy because a player of great quality is coming, at a great age to come to Barca with extraordinary motivation,” he told reporters, as per Goal.
“Personally, I’ve seen how excited he is to come to Barca.”
Barcelona have agreed to cover Rashford’s full salary during his loan, and the player is said to have taken a pay cut to help get the move over the line.
Laporta has praised Rashford’s honesty, noting that the England international had once hoped to spend his entire career at United as a one-club player.
“One of his virtues is that he is sincere,” he continued.
“His dream was to play for Manchester United for the rest of his life. He arrived at the age of seven and was born there with an interesting life.
“He wanted to be a ‘one-club man.’ It’s nice for a player to say this with all the sincerity.”
The 12-month loan covers the 2025-26 season, with Barcelona holding an option to make it permanent in 2026 for £30.3m.
