For the second successive summer, Joao Felix’s situation has a lot of doubts. In 2023, he ended up joining Barcelona on the final day of the transfer market, although he’s unlikely to make the same move in 2024.

According to Ruben Uria (via Sport), extending Felix’s loan spell in Catalonia is seen as an unviable option by the player himself, his agent Jorge Mendes, and also Atletico Madrid, his parent club. As such, work is already being done to establish new offers for the Portuguese international.

Mendes is already handling two proposals for Felix, which can be advanced on once the Barcelona loan spell comes to an end after this weekend. However, Atleti insist that they want the best possible offer, and if that does not arrive, they are prepared to hold on to the 24-year-old for pre-season, despite him not featuring in Diego Simeone’s plans going forward.

It remains to be seen how Felix’s situation at Atletico Madrid plays out over the coming months. For now, the only real certainty is that he won’t be back in Barcelona colours next season.
