Joao Pedro sealed what Chelsea should have already known

Chelsea punched their tickets into the Champions League knockout stage with a bye week, as they defeated former Blues Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku in the marquee matchup of the week against reigning Serie A champions Napoli, 3-2.

And the star of the show from a Chelsea perspective was none other than star striker Joao Pedro, who scored two goals to be the main difference maker in his club picking up this huge win.

In addition to the brace, the Brazilian international racked up a whopping seven combined dribbles completed and fouls drawn, showing that same top class all around ability that made him one of the best players in the entire Premier League to start the 2025/26 season with his new employers.

Pedro had a bit of a lull in between, and a lot of that was down to missing Cole Palmer. His huge performance against Napoli was a clear indication that he is part of the best attacking trio at Chelsea.

The Blues rule the roost and are a legitimate Champions League darkhorse when they can play all of Joao Pedro, Estevao Willian, and Cole Palmer together, because these are three supremely talented young players who complement each other perfectly.

Chelsea should have already known that this is their best attacking trio and a must start together in all the big games, but if there were ever any shadow of a doub that Pedro is a part of that holy triumvirate, then he cemented his status with this show stealing performance vs. Conte’s Napoli.
