Ange Postecoglou could make history with Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League

It has been a season full of ups and downs for Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites have the chance of ending their 17-year long wait for a major trophy on Wednesday night. The North London club are facing Manchester United in the Europa League final and winning the competition would ensure a European trophy heading back to N17 after four decades.

The domestic campaign has been a complete contrast to the European journey. Under Ange Postecoglou, the Lilywhites have broken all sorts of unwanted records in the Premier League this season. The club sits 17th in the league table and they have already registered 21 losses in the league. Fans have also shown their discontent towards the performances in the domestic competitions.

There is a growing feeling that Ange Postecoglou’s race is run at Hotspur Way and the Australian will leave N17 for pastures new in the summer. While his team may have fallen short of expectations in the Premier League, they still have the chance of making history and ending the season on a high. Winning the Europa League would also ensure Champions League football for next season.

Ange Postecoglou adamant to stay at Tottenham

Many fans believe that Ange Postecoglou’s time at N17 is almost up and the club would look to replace him in the summer. It was also reported earlier that Daniel Levy was leaning towards sacking Big Ange once the season ended, irrespective of the outcome in the Europa League final. If these are going to be the final few weeks of the ex-Celtic boss being at the helm, then the Australian has the chance of leaving his mark at the club.

When asked about his uncertain future at Tottenham in his pre-match presser, Ange Postecoglou said (as transcribed by Football.london),

“I don’t think my job is done here. I think a trophy would accelerate that and I think there’s a lot still to be done. The challenges we’ve had are well chronicled but I think there’s been some growth in there.”

The Spurs manager added,

“Whatever happens beyond tomorrow is irrelevant when you think about the opportunity right now and that’s to provide something special for this club and its fans and everyone who has worked so hard for this. Whatever happens after that I’m very comfortable that I’ll be continuing to try to win trophies wherever I am.”

Ange Postecoglou has insisted that his job is not done at Tottenham. The Australian also insisted that winning the Europa League would change the perspective of how the season has gone and the way the team has been perceived. Big Ange also suggested that nothing is more important than the upcoming game. The Spurs manager also adds that he will continue to win trophies wherever he goes next.

Daniel Levy has already started looking at potential managers to take over the helm in the summer. Crystal palace boss Oliver Glasner and former Ajax manager Francesco Farioli are linked heavily with the job and both are seen as the right candidates to replace Ange Postecoglou at N17.

Big Ange cannot shift his focus elsewhere as he has the chance of creating history at the North London club and give fans a lasting memory by winning the Europa League final. Facing Manchester United would not be an easy task, but Spurs hold an upper hand in the tie already. The Lilywhites have already beaten the Red Devils thrice this season in all competitions.
