Journalist confirms Tottenham’s ‘definite’ interest in signing player they’ve missed out on twice before

Tottenham have maintained their interest in Club Brugge wonderkid Antonio Nusa after his failed move to Brentford.

Spurs were close to signing the youngster in the January transfer window but saw the deal get hijacked from under their noses.

Premier League rivals Brentford swooped in last minute and agreed a deal with the club and the player.

However, the player ended up failing his medical at Brentford with the club uncovering issues with his knee and back during the examination.

The move to Brentford is now off but other clubs remain interested in signing him including Tottenham.

In a conversation with Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold, Norwegian media outlet Nettavisen’s Stian Andre de Wahl hinted at Tottenham’s continued interest in the player, suggesting that while it’s uncertain if they will make a serious bid, the club’s inclination towards investing in promising young talents could prompt them to pursue Nusa.

He said (via Football London):

“Tottenham is definitely one of the clubs showing interest. It’s difficult to say right now if they will try seriously to get him, but as we can see with Tottenham’s strategy to invest in big young talents it wouldn’t be a surprise if they try.”

This isn’t the first time Tottenham have been linked with Nusa. The North London club reportedly had an opportunity to secure his services for a mere €3 million back in 2021 when he was plying his trade for Stabaek in Norway.

However, they missed out on that opportunity, and the failed move to Brentford in January adds to their frustration.

The upcoming summer window might provide them with another chance to secure the highly-rated youngster’s services.

Will the third time be the charm for Spurs in their pursuit of Antonio Nusa? Only time will tell.
