Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Mainz midfielder Kaishu Sano.
The 24-year-old has done quite well for the German club, and his performances have attracted the attention of the North London outfit. The Japanese International is a defensive midfielder, but he can operate as a box-to-box midfielder as well.
According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham really like the player and could look to make a move for him in future. Jacobs believes that the Japanese international is similar to the Chelsea star Moises Caicedo.
Jacobs said on Last Word on Spurs: “Kaishu Sano, who is at the Bundesliga side Mainz, is another player that Tottenham really like. He’s an extremely combative number six who is capable of moving between the lines, winning aerial duels, but a bit like Moises Caicedo, is a very progressive passer, who you sort of see a lot of underrated attacking qualities about. He’s not just your standard engine room and ball winner. He’s also very good at, after he’s won it, getting his head up and working out where there’s an incisive pass to be played. And that’s why he is so effective playing in a counterattacking side. That’s also maybe another name to watch.”
‘Tottenham have looked’ at the possibility of signing ‘phenomenal player’ Paratici ‘really likes’
Tottenham could certainly use someone like that on the side. Yves Bissouma could be on his way out of the club this summer, and they need to replace him. The Japanese international seems like the ideal fit for them. He has the physicality and technical attributes to adapt to English football, and he could help him improve at both ends of the pitch. He will help protect the defensive unit and allow the creative players to operate with more freedom.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be hugely exciting for him. It would be a massive step up, and he will be able to prove his quality at the highest level. Tottenham have recently won a European trophy, and they will be an attractive destination for players. They will be able to offer him UEFA Champions League football as well.
At Tottenham, he will be able to play alongside top-quality players and work with a phenomenal manager like Thomas Frank. The Denmark manager could bring out the best in him and help him improve further.
