After Barcelona defeated Newcastle, Jules Koundé was one player to receive a question regarding the matchup with PSG.
“Of course, it’s a very exciting match to play against a great team, European champions,” Koundé said post-match to Canal-Plus. “It’s a game that football fans have been looking forward to since last season, given the history between the two clubs. We can’t wait to play against them.”
Additionally, Barcelona got a heads-up from Atalanta manager Ivan Juric, who warned the Spanish club—and everyone on PSG’s Champions League group-stage schedule—about what to expect from last season’s treble winners.
“The difference was huge,” Juric told Sky Italia. “They are on a much higher level than us (…) Should we have been more cautious? We studied PSG’s games closely. The teams that tried that didn’t even give themselves a chance and ended up losing even worse.
“The only teams that really hurt Paris were Strasbourg and Lens, teams that tried to win the ball back quickly and counter fast. We chose that approach.”
