Manchester United’s hunt for a new manager is well underway after sacking Ruben Amorim last month amid yet another poor season.

The inconsistent results saw the Portuguese manager’s reign at Old Trafford come to an end after just over a year.

In his wake, Michael Carrick has been appointed to steady the ship until the end of the season as a caretaker manager, with a new drive seen by the United squad.

The intention is for Carrick to see out the remainder of the campaign, attempting to secure Champions League football, with an elite manager being appointed ahead of the 2026/27 season.

However, this isn’t the only time United have been looking for a new manager, with Ruben Amorim being hired in 2024 after the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

Earlier today it was also revealed that in 2024 United also approached former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to take the hot seat at Old Trafford.

However, Sky Sports has now reported that this announcement from a representative of Klopp isn’t true.

Manchester United have claimed that no such contact was made to appoint Jurgen Klopp as a new manager for The Red Devils.

Similarly, Chelsea have also denied the claims that Marc Kosicke made saying: “Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jurgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England.”

He continued: “These inquiries keep coming. He’s extremely happy with what he’s achieved. And it’s still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired.”

With both Premier League sides denying the historic claims, it’s unknown why Kosicke has commented on contact.
