Juventus and Milan target unregistered Dani Olmo in ‘Beckham’ style transfer – report

Reports in Italy suggest that both Milan and Juventus are interested in picking up a deal for Dani Olmo, who is currently owned by Barcelona, but is unable to play for his current employers in the current circumstances.

Dani Olmo joined Barca in the summer of 2024, but he was only registered for the first half of the 2024-25 season, as Barcelona could not comply with the wage cap restrictions put in place by LaLiga.

Barca have since missed the deadline to register Dani Olmo for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, which means that without a change in circumstances, the Spain international is not currently eligible to play for his current club.

Milan and Juventus both interested in Dani Olmo opportunity

The situation has already alerted some of Europe’s top clubs, including the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain according to reports in Italy, but there are also suggestions that Milan and Juventus could also be interested.

According to reports from Calciomercato.it, both teams are interested in signing Dani Olmo on a loan deal similar to the operation that brought David Beckham to Milan in two consecutive seasons back in 2009 and 2010.

Neither Milan or Juventus would realistically be able to afford to buy Dani Olmo outright in January given that he cost €60m less than six months ago, but both teams could potentially offer Barcelona a lifeline in the form of a straight loan deal.

Both Milan and Juventus would be able to effectively guarantee Dani Olmo first-team football for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, but both would also have to hope that Barcelona allow the player to leave on loan without a significant loan fee.
