Juventus Boss Insisted to Keep Derby D’Italia Hero

Vasilije Adzic was set to depart Juventus, at least on loan, after not getting many minutes in his first season in Italy. However, Igor Tudor asked to keep him, and the officials complied. The coach trusted the starlet in a big spot, and he delivered.

According to TuttoSport, the youngster had offers from Sassuolo, Bologna, Genoa, and Palermo. He probably wouldn’t have minded leaving temporarily to play consistently, but the boss vetoed his exit, and the management agreed.

Instead, like they did with many other talents, Juventus never entertained cashing in on Adzic even though some Bundesliga sides explored this possibility. They would have likely been able to record a decent ‘plusvalenza’ since they paid €7M to acquire him from Buducnost Podgorica a year ago.

The 19-year-old suffered a few muscular injuries and didn’t win over Thiago Motta last year, making just six appearances off the bench. Instead, he shone during a limited stint with the Next Gen squad, recording 4 goals and 2 assists in 10 appearances. Lead assistant Ivan Javorcic took him under his wing during the summer, and the work on the talent has paid dividends early.

He came in with a lot of hype, but it was tough even for much more established players to prosper in whatever happened last season. As a result of their late moves, they are a bit crowded offensively, but there could be room for everybody, thanks to the five subs and the busy schedule. Perhaps they’d benefit more from trying to mold him into a midfielder, where they could use more quality. He appears to have the physical traits to handle it.
