Reports in Italy confirm that Juventus have been in contact with Lille to discuss a potential deal for winger Edon Zhegrova, and that the Bianconeri are hoping for an ‘assist’ from the Kosovan’s former teammate Jonathan David, who also joined the Old Lady this summer.
Juventus are hoping to add another winger to their ranks before the close of the summer transfer window, on top of the intended return of Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.
As Football Italia reported over the weekend, there has been contact between Juventus and Lille for Zhegrova, and that Olympique de Marseille were also among the leading parties to land the 26-year-old’s signature.
Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport have confirmed on Monday that Juve have been in direct contact to request information regarding Zhegrova’s availability.
The former Genk and Basel winger has been of interest to the Bianconeri for at least a year, dating back to the summer transfer window in 2024 when Cristiano Giuntoli was still heading up the Bianconeri recruitment. Ultimately, Juventus decided to go with Nico Gonzalez and Francisco Conceicao last summer.
There had also been interest from Napoli during the winter transfer window as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who had left to join PSG.
Now, with Damien Comolli running the Juventus recruitment, Zhegrova’s name has come back into fashion, while last summer’s signing, Nico Gonzalez, could be sacrificed in order to make way for new additions.
Monday’s reports confirm that Atletico Madrid are still interested in a deal for Nico Gonzalez this summer, but that Diego Simeone’s side have not yet come close to matching the €30m fee that Juventus are seeking.
Juve spent €5m to sign Nico Gonzalez on loan last summer, and paid a further €28m, not including bonuses, to make his loan deal permanent this summer.
