Juventus are reportedly closing on Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson, who had already been approached by Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Aston Villa.

The Bianconeri are looking for reinforcements in the middle of the park and the first choice is Teun Koopmeiners, but that might be difficult considering the Atalanta asking price is at least €50m and there is going to be competition from the biggest Premier League clubs.

A cheaper alternative is emerging as Ferguson, who could ask to move on from Bologna this summer, even if they do qualify for the Champions League.

The Scotland international had already been the target of January proposals from the Premier League, but the likes of Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Fulham were at the time ready to offer €20m.

Ferguson was already worth more and his value has further increased on the transfer market thanks to his performances this season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Juventus hope to get the advantage by offering players as part of an exchange deal with Bologna, such as their youth products Hans Nicolussi Caviglia or Tommaso Barbieri, who is currently on loan at Pisa.
