Sassuolo confirmed their promotion back to Serie A on Sunday after a one-year absence from the top flight, which also helps Juventus to the tune of around €5m thanks to a clause in the loan deal for former Next Gen player Tarik Muharemovic, which has now become an obligation to buy.
Sassuolo were relegated from Serie A at the end of the 2023-24 season, but sealed their return after a one-year spell in Serie B on Sunday. The Neroverdi are top of the second division with 75 points after 33 matches, which gives them a 16-point buffer between themselves and Spezia in third place with five games to go.
Among Sassuolo’s promotion-winning squad is Muharemovic, who joined on loan with an option to buy from Juventus in the summer of 2024. That buy option became a mandatory obligation to buy in the event of promotion to Serie A.
That means that Juventus will receive a fee of around €5m made up of a €2.5m guaranteed fee and up to €2.5m in bonuses.
The Old Lady will also have a 50% sell-on clause on Muharemovic, according to reports from Tuttosport.
The 22-year-old has made a total of 23 Serie B appearances this term, including a run of 12 matches as a starter between November and February. He has also chipped in with a goal and an assist in that time.
