Italian sources report what Inter striker Marcus Thuram told his brother Khephren during a VAR check in the dying minutes of Juventus-Inter on Saturday: ‘Come on, say you touched him.’

Inter striker Marcus Thuram urged his brother, Khephren, a Juventus midfielder, to tell the referee that he had touched Ange-Yoan Bonny in the build-up to Vasilije Adžić’s winner in the Derby d’Italia on Saturday.

Why Adzic’s goal vs. Inter caused controversy

Khephren Thuram won the ball high up the pitch, seconds before Adžić’s winning goal at minute 91 in a dramatic Juventus’ 4-3 victory.

There was controversy as Bonny remained on the ground in pain, suggesting that he had suffered a foul, but while the VAR check was ongoing, Marcus Thuram was seen laughing with his brother, irritating part of the Inter fanbase.

According to Tuttosport and other Italian media, all Marcus Thuram told his brother was: ‘Come on, say you toched him.’

Nevertheless, some Nerazzurri supporters still did not enjoy the way the Inter striker made his request.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu promptly played down the controversy at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia on Saturday.

“I haven’t seen it, I don’t know, I don’t know the context. I don’t know if anything happened, but let’s stop making controversies, it’s not good for anyone,” said the Inter coach.
