Manchester United remains one of the most exciting football clubs in the world to play for and is an attractive prospect for players across the globe.

The Red Devils, led by Michael Carrick, have attracted some of the best players in the world over the last decade including Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, and Raphael Varane.

For this summer’s transfer window, however, the club’s attractiveness and pull will be crucial as Michael Carrick and the recruitment team look to build a squad that is capable of competing in the Champions League.

Away from the main transfer market, alternative options remain open for Manchester United with one of these being the youth academy.

The club’s academy has produced and continues to produce large amounts of talented players that are capable of playing football at a high level.

Some of the latest players to emerge from the fold into the first-team, including Shea Lacey and Tyler Fletcher, are a shining example of the work that the academy puts in.

Now, in preparation for the future, Kai Rooney has signed on as an academy scholar with Manchester United.

In a similar decision to that taken by others who have come through the academy set-up, signing as a scholar is seen as a big step towards the chances of playing professionally.

Posting on Instagram, Rooney shared a photo with him holding a United shirt helping to demonstrate the significance of the moment further.

Kai Rooney has played for Manchester United Under-18s previously, impressing coaches as he negotiated matches with the side.

He is not the only player to sign on with the club, however. Other players, including Gazik Ibragimov and Edson DeJonge-Seiros have also taken the decision as they look to develop their own careers.

Focus will now switch, for all those that have signed on, to ensuring that the scholarship is not wasted.
