Pierre Kalulu will face another extended period on the sidelines after suffering an injury during the win over Hellas Verona, and the AC Milan management are now reflecting on his future.

As we reported yesterday, Kalulu sustained a strain on his medial collateral ligament and will immediately begin conservative treatment of the problem. However, he is expected to miss four to six weeks.

As a reminder, Kalulu suffered a ruptured tendon in the game against Napoli four months ago and Sunday was the first time in 140 days that he had been named in the starting line-up. Now, he will have to sit out again.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports this morning, Kalulu arrived on a free transfer from Lyon and was the revelation of the Scudetto-winning season. He and Fikayo Tomori formed a centre-back duo that kept nine clean sheets in the last 11 league games.

However, he did not maintain the same performance levels last season and the current campaign has been almost completely compromised by physical problems. In the questions that the club asks itself regarding the defence of the future, Kalulu’s future is one of them.

The paper states that if there is a good offer ‘he will probably leave’. The 23-year-old undoubtedly has big potential still, and given he joined on a free any sale would be a pure capital gain.
