Keith Andrews Named Brentford Head Coach Following Thomas Frank Exit

Brentford have appointed Keith Andrews as their new head coach on a three-year deal, promoting the 44-year-old Irishman from within after a year as the club’s set-piece coach. 

His elevation comes in the wake of Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham.

Andrews, who joined Brentford in July 2024, has previously held coaching roles with MK Dons, Sheffield United, and the Republic of Ireland national team. His appointment mirrors the soccer club’s tradition of internal succession, as seen with Frank’s own rise to the top job in 2018.

Director of soccer Phil Giles endorsed the hire: “Keith is a very good fit. He’s detailed, and the players and staff like and respect him. He understands the players in the building and the way we’ve played and trained under Thomas Frank.”

Andrews inherits a team in transition. 

• Caoimhin Kelleher has arrived from Liverpool to replace Mark Flekken.
• Christian Norgaard is linked with Arsenal.
• Manchester United are pursuing top scorer Bryan Mbeumo.

In his first interview as head coach, Andrews expressed his vision for the team: “We want to play winning football, we want to be competitive, we want to have an edge, we want to play dynamic, relentless football but we want to be organized.”
