Manchester United and Newcastle United are set to face off in March as both sides approach the end of the Premier League season.

The Red Devils, currently fourth in the English top four, are unbeaten in their last five whilst Newcastle have won just once in their last five encounters.

With this is mind, their current league standings, fourth and tenth, arguably can not be said to be surprising.

However, with a large portion of the season still to go, anything can happen and Michael Carrick’s side still have work to do if they are to meet their aims and to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, with the aim of Champions League qualification in mind, the Red Devils’ upcoming match with Newcastle in early March could be crucial.

Now, even with the game weeks away, one key midfielder will miss the game for the Toon.

According to the BBC, Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes will miss the clash with Manchester United due to a hamstring injury.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe previously explained that the midfielder was “a little bit worried because he has never had a problem with his hamstrings before.”

Guimaraes has featured 23 times for his side in the Premier League so far this season, scoring nine times and providing four assists.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has also featured in other competitions for the Toon such as the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League.

However, with a new injury now emerging, he will be on the touchlines for key fixtures in some of these tournaments whilst also missing the fixture with Manchester United at the start of next month.

For Newcastle, the absence of Bruno Guimaraes arguably present a huge blow in their prospects of success in the final stages of this season.
