The future of Kobbie Mainoo has been in question for some time now, with a big push for the star to leave Old Trafford.

The midfielder has gone from a regular starter for both United and England to only making cameo appearances off the bench and being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

As such, Mainoo has made repeated requests to go out on loan to get more game time to aid his development, all of which have been rejected by United.

However, United legends such as Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary Neville have all agreed that leaving the Red Devils would be the best thing for Mainoo right now.

Now, The Sun has reported that despite his fall down the pecking order since Amorim arrived, Kobbie Mainoo still wants to fight for his Manchester United future.

Sources close to the situation have explained that despite the breakdown in relationship with Mainoo and Amorim, the talented youngster is defiant on succeeding at Old Trafford.

Currently out with a calf-injury, Mainoo is keen to show why he deserves a spot in the squad, with the former England international due to recover sooner than Bruno Fernandes.

As such, the opportunity is there for the 20-year-old to step up and cover the gap left but the captain’s short-term absence.

However a return to the pitch isn’t the only thing Mainoo has to worry about, with a stunt from his brother having caused tensions off the pitch as well.

During United’s 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, Mainoo’s brother was seen wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “Free Kobbie Mainoo” indicating to the club’s refusal to let him leave.
