Real Madrid president Florentino Perez hinted on Tuesday that Paris Saint-Germain star forward Kylian Mbappe could commit his future to the Spanish giants as soon as Jan. 1, as the 22-year-old heavily pursued by "Los Blancos" throughout the summer transfer window can become a free agent next summer and, thus, can sign a pre-contract agreement with any team at the start of the new year.
According to Adriana Garcia of ESPN, however, Fayza Lamari, Mbappe's mother, has told Le Parisien that her son is discussing a potential new deal that would keep him at Paris Saint-Germain.
"We are talking right now with PSG and all is well," Lamari explained. "I spoke last night with [PSG sporting director] Leonardo. Will we reach a solution? One thing is clear. He is going to give everything until the end to win the Champions League."
Lamari added she wants Mbappe to make whatever final decision will make him "happy."
Real Madrid reportedly offered €200 million ($236 million) to Paris Saint-Germain before the window closed on Aug. 31 for Mbappe, but Leonardo later denied that claim and has repeatedly hit out at the La Liga side regarding their interest in a signed talent.
PSG director Leonardo to L’Équipe: “It's lasted for 2 years. The transfer window is over, Real Madrid need to STOP behaving like this. They need to stop! Mbappé is PSG player and the club wants this relationship to last. It’s a lack of respect [to PSG]”. #PSG @hadrien_grenier

Mbappe has reportedly rejected previous opportunities to extend his PSG contract beyond the season and told RMC Sport earlier this week he wanted to leave his current employer to move to Madrid in July.
