After a disappointing MLS season, the Los Angeles Galaxy received good news on Monday, Dec. 8.
Major League Soccer announced the Galaxy was named the 2025 Community Impact Club of the Year for its commitment to the Los Angeles community.
"The award was voted on by all 30 MLS clubs, with the finalists then reviewed by a panel of judges at the league to identify the winner based on their contributions to their communities. The honor was announced today as part of Major League Soccer’s 2025 Mark Abbott MLS Club Business Awards Winners," is part of what is stated in the official release.
Specifically, the club made the following contributions to win this recognition:
"The LA Galaxy’s goal in the community is to create safe spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy and have access to the game of soccer," explained the six-time MLS Cup champion.
The LA Galaxy won the MLS Cup in 2024, but the following season was one to forget for Greg Vanney's side.
After a serious injury to its star player, Riqui Puig -- which kept him off the field the entire campaign -- and the departure of key players like Mark Delgado, the franchise could not recover and did not even qualify for the playoffs, finishing second-to-last in the Western Conference.
With Puig set to gradually return to training, Vanney and his staff hope to have a much better 2026 season.
It remains to be seen if they make significant roster moves, as their Designated Player spots are all occupied by, precisely, Puig, Gabriel Pec, and Joseph Paintsil, in addition to having Marco Reus on their roster, whose contract ends in December 2026.
