“El tráfico” was expected to happen at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles at full capacity, with both LA Galaxy and LAFC fans supporting their teams. However, the famous Galaxy supporter groups—Angel City Brigade, Galaxians, and Galaxy Outlawz—will not attend the game due to ICE operations in Los Angeles.
According to recent research conducted by Intermex, a money remittance provider, and released alongside a partnership statement with LA Galaxy, nearly 70% of MLS viewers are Latino, and Los Angeles is home to over five million Latinos.
With the recent ICE operations happening in Los Angeles, many fans are afraid to leave their homes for fear of being stopped by immigration authorities. This has led not only to major protests in the city, but also to boycotts of MLS games as teams stay silent on ICE actions in cities like Los Angeles and Chicago.
The three supporter groups, which normally occupy the north side of Dignity Health Park, released a statement explaining their absence: “In solidarity with those who can’t attend, due to lack of support from the Galaxy towards the city of Los Angeles, and a lack of communication regarding security for members attending home and away matches amid immigration raids.”

Their absence is expected to impact the game’s atmosphere, especially for the Galaxy. As reigning champions, the team will miss the boost from their most passionate supporters in what could be a crucial match for their playoff hopes—even though the Galaxy currently sit in last place in the Western Conference. On the other hand, they are set to begin play in the League Cup starting in August.
Supporter activities have been on hold since June, when the groups—including the LA Riot Squad, who occupy the Southeast corner of the stadium—chose not to make their annual trip north to watch the Galaxy take on the San Jose Earthquakes.
They followed that with a silent protest during the Galaxy’s 3-0 victory on July Fourth—the team’s first home game since ICE arrived in the city—where Angel City Brigade and Galaxians staged a walkout in the 12th minute.
Almost 20 minutes into the game, LA Galaxy fans have rolled their protest into week two. Silent protest this week in Victoria Block. Signs critical of the team have been displayed in the section.
