In recent years, MLS has transformed from a primarily domestic league into an international stage, attracting European soccer superstars like Lionel Messi, Thomas Müller, and Heung-Min Son.

However, that welcome to legends of the sport also comes with their competitive drive to win everything.

That’s why we see more protests or more contested plays with opponents, because these players come to take everything in front of them, and they do not like to lose in any aspect of soccer, not even in training.

Heung-Min Son spoke about this, saying he does not like to lose in training, and even less in official matches with LAFC.

During a recent interview, Son emphasized his competitive mindset, explaining that rather than setting personal or team goals for the season, his sole focus is on winning every match.

“I don’t have goals, I want to win all the matches possible, everyone knows that we have a strong team and a strong roster, my goal would be to win every match.”

Adding: “I hate losing, even in training some players just laugh at me because if I lose, I don’t talk to anyone.”

What the former Tottenham player says makes sense. Son has been a natural competitor his whole life, from his time at Bayer Leverkusen to his current stage in MLS, the South Korean attacker only wants to win as he has done his whole life.

There is one point the player highlighted, and it is that he gets pissed off when he loses, whether in training or in an official match.

“I get pissed off, I don’t want to feel that, especially in official games. Obviously, there will be matches you win and others you lose, clearly we have to accept it and respect the opponent, I hate it, it makes me pissed.”
