Son Heung-min has brought in a fresh wave of fanfare to Major League Soccer following his move to LAFC. The former Tottenham star confirmed his departure from the North London club earlier last week, with the South Korean now looking to ply his trade on American soil.

Despite failing to win a domestic title with Spurs during his time in England, the South Korean had a decorated career at the club, helping them lift their first European silverware last season in over a decade. Son Heung-min enjoyed a decorated time at Spurs, with the player forming a deadly partnership alongside ex-teammate Harry Kane.

With the South Korean now moving to LAFC, fans have huge expectations from the player, with many hoping he can put everyone on notice with his mesmerising performances.

Son drops reality check on LAFC move

While fans might have lofty expectations from the former Tottenham captain, Son isn't being very ambitious off the gate, with the player staying true to his nature as he discussed his move to LAFC. In an interview with ESPN LA following his transfer, Son talked about his chances of being successful in America following his impressive stint in Europe.

The South Korean stated, "I think this is a completely different challenge. I think this league is different than Europe. So it doesn't mean that if I was successful in Europe, that means I will be successful here for free. It means I have to earn this. I have to work hard to perform in the league. So I start from zero, and I want to push as high as possible."

While Son might try being humble over the move, the player made an instant impact in his debut fixture to help LAFC secure a 2-2 draw against Chicago Fire with his team trailing when he stepped onto the pitch. LAFC fans will hope the player can fire strong in the upcoming games in a bid to secure their place in the playoffs.
