FC Barcelona is closer to winning the La Liga title after their 4-3 win over Real Madrid today. The Catalan club stormed back from a 2-0 scoreline to then score four in the first half.
Once again, one of the most important players for Barcelona was Lamine Yamal, who scored the equalizer. The 17-year-old was crucial in giving Barca momentum to chase the game and win an important match that can define the league title in Spain.

Yamal continues to break records, and in this game, the youngster made history in La Liga. With his goal today, Yamal has become the player with the most goals in La Liga before turning 18. He has scored 12 goals for FC Barcelona in La Liga since his debut two years ago. He turns 18 on July 13.
He surpassed Pablo Pumbo from Racing de Santander and his teammate Ansu Fati, who both had 11 goals in La Liga before they turned 18 years old.
This also marks his seventh goal in the league this season for Barcelona. His goal contributions after 32 La Liga games are seven goals and 12 assists. Across all competitions, Yamal has 16 goals and 20 assists in 52 games played.
Many soccer fans wanted to find out how Barcelona would approach the Real Madrid game after their Champions League exit against Inter Milan. The elimination seemed to affect the players, including Lamine Yamal, which made fans wonder if Real Madrid could capitalize.
At first, it looked like it did, with Kylian Mbappe scoring two early goals. Goals from Eric Garcia, Yamal, and a brace from Raphinha led Barca to a 4-2 lead at halftime. Yamal spoke after the match and mentioned the Champions League game.
Lamine Yamal: "Barça is the club of my life, to play in a Clásico and score a goal, it's incredible. We could’ve scored more today! I told my mother that there is a new Champions League season every year… and we will keep fighting for it. It was a very important match, after the Champions League elimination we wanted to win. Now it’s time to enjoy."
Barcelona won four out of four matches against Real Madrid this season. Yamal scored three goals and provided two assists in those four games against Madrid. Barcelona is first in La Liga with 82 points, while Madrid is second with 75 points.
There are three games left in the league, and Barcelona can officially win the league if they win their next game. Barcelona will be playing against Espanyol on Thursday.
If they win the league against Espanyol, it would mirror the 2022-23 season, when Barcelona officially won the league by defeating their local rivals 4-2.
