It has been reported that FC Barcelona will announce Yamal's new shirt number on his birthday, which falls on July 13.

Barcelona is yet to present their new jerseys for next season, and it will likely be presented before Yamal's contract extension. The new FC Barcelona jersey will likely be presented by Yamal wearing his new shirt number.

Barcelona fans continue the comparisons between Yamal and Messi as both players wore the number 19 at Barca. Yamal would follow Messi in changing his number from 19 to 10.

Lamine Yamal has been asked in the past about wearing the number 10 at FC Barcelona. The number was worn by Ansu Fati since 2021 after Messi.

When asked if he would like to wear the number 10 shortly, Yamal was respectful to Fati and gave one condition to wear the iconic shirt number.

Lamine Yamal: "Until Ansu Fati leaves, I don't want anything to do with the #10. He's my friend. If he weren’t in the squad and they offered it to me, of course, I would accept it, it is a dream for me."

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Fati will be on his way to AS Monaco this summer on loan with an option to buy. The contract is expected to be signed this weekend.
