Earlier this week, it was announced that Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta will be leaving Las Palmas after Sunday’s fixture with Alaves. The 49-year-old is expected to take over as Sevilla’s next manager, replacing the outgoing Quique Sanchez Flores. Already, the search is underway for his replacement.

As per Marca, Las Palmas have three candidates on their shortlist. The favoured one is Luis Carrion, current head coach of Segunda side Real Oviedo – if a move for him is planned, it’s possible that an answer does not come for a few weeks, with Oviedo currently fighting for the play-off places.

Former Albacete manager Ruben Albes is also being considered, and the same is said for Oscar Garcia Junyent. The latter fits the profile wanted by Las Palmas, and like Garcia Pimienta, he is also a product of Barcelona’s coaching school.

It remains to be seen who Las Palmas opt for, although if Carrion is their top target, they will have to wait before advancing their search.
