Chelsea are going to have to sell as well as buy players this month, and some big names are potentially on the chopping block.

Chelsea are set for another busy summer, with the absence of Champions League football this year set to cause yet more upheaval in the squad.

That will mean selling players as well as buying them, and there are a few big names potentially on the way out. Max Fretwell has written for Striver that several first team regulars could be moved on.

Chelsea first team stars at risk in summer clearout

“Sources contacted by Striver have said that ‘most players will informally be up for sale’. This means that while specific names may be protected in the media, the reality is Chelsea would listen to bids for them privately,” Fretwell writes.

“This process is expected to accelerate further if Chelsea miss out on Europe entirely,” he goes on.

“Some sources believe those players could include the likes of Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Andrey Santos, Pedro Neto, and Malo Gusto.”

It’s all very speculative – we have our doubts about whether this is hard information or just educated guessing. But that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. In a model like Chelsea’s, it’s certainly true that almost anyone is up for sale. We don’t see why we would turn down moves for any of those guys at the right price.

A potential incoming player is Valentin Barco, who will join us from Strasbourg according to most recent rumours.

Our predicted team for this game has Calum McFarlane go full strength with almost no tweaks to his favoured side.
