Lavelle, Wilson lead 2027 NWSL free agent class

The National Women’s Soccer League introduced free agency in 2022. Every summer, the league posts its official free agency list. It’s that time of the year again.

Notable names on the list include Rose Lavelle (Gotham FC), Sophia Wilson (Portland Thorns), Marta (Orlando Pride) and Andi Sullivan (Washington Spirit).

Free agency officially opened at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Each club has announced its free agents, in accordance with the league’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the NWSL Players Association. According to the league, “all players, regardless of service years, whose contracts expire at the conclusion of the 2026 NWSL season may begin negotiations for their 2027 Standard Player Agreements.”

Furthermore, the league explained that teams may negotiate contract terms with any free agent on the list below. “A player or player agent may also solicit discussion. If a player does not receive a new offer, the player remains a free agent with their rights unassigned in the NWSL. A player may agree to terms with their current team, or a new team, at any time,” the league announced in a press release.
