Lazio have reportedly set their sights on Udinese stalwart Jaka Bijol, especially following the unconvincing displays of their centre-back duo last weekend.
The Biancocelesti suffered their first defeat of the Serie A campaign on Saturday as they came up short against the Zebrette at the Bluenergy Stadium. Marco Baroni’s men were impeded by the performances of their defenders Alessio Romanogli and Nicolo Casale who were at fault for both goals conceded by the away side.
On the contrary, Bijol looked solid at the back for the Friulians, as he prevailed in his personal duel against Taty Castellanos. So according to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio are considering revamping their backline in the final days of the summer transfer session.
The source claims the club would be willing to listen to offers for either Italian centre-back. And if they manage to offload one of them, they will attempt to sign Bijol as a replacement. As the source tells it, the Slovenian is a very popular figure at Lazio. The club’s directors have been keeping an eye on the Udinese defender for quite some time.
The 25-year-old has been a pillar at the back for the Zebrette since making the move from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2022. His contract with the Venetian club is valid until June 2027. So it remains to be seen if Lazio would have enough time on their hands to pull off what would be a sensational overhaul.
