Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has set his sights on Jacopo Fazzini and wants the Empoli talent to replace Toma Basic in his squad.

The 26-year-old Basic has struggled to settle in the Italian capital since his €7 million move from Bordeaux in the summer of 2021 and has featured less in his second campaign than he did in his first.

This season, the Croatian midfielder has played just 835 minutes of action in 27 appearances across all competitions, making just four Serie A starts.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Sarri considers Fazzini to be an exciting and intriguing midfielder who is already ready to hop into the Lazio squad, so he’s hoping the club sign the 20-year-old in the summer.

The Italian midfielder, who is valued at around €15 million, is considered more suited to Sarri’s tactical system than Basic, who seems destined to leave the Biancocelesti in the near future.
