Lazio midfielder Daichi Kamada will decide his own fate by the end of the season. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reveals an unusual clause in the player’s contract with the Italian capital side.

The 27-year-old signed for the Biancocelesti as a free agent last summer after seeing out his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt. Nevertheless, the two parties opted for an unfamiliar arrangement. The Japan international only signed a one-year deal, but at the end of the season, he has the option to extend his stay until June 2027, or leave the club.

To make matters even more peculiar, Romano reveals that Kamada can exercise the automatic renewal option by paying the club 100 euros by the end of May. Therefore, the Italian journalist expects the midfielder to decide his future in the Eternal City in the next few weeks.

Kamada initially struggled to earn playing time under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri. However, the appointment of Igor Tudor last month boosted his status at the club. He has thus far started in all three of the club’s Serie A fixtures since the Croatian’s arrival. The former Frankfurt star has now made 32 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing with a single goal and assist.
