Lazio are making concrete steps to sign young Pogon Szczecin attacking midfielder Adrian Przyborek, but they will have to raise their offer.
The Biancocelesti have been extremely active on the market in January, even though their operations have irked Maurizio Sarri and the fanbase, who fear that the quality of the squad has diminished. Nevertheless, Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani is keen on pulling off a few coups that will benefit the club in the long run.
In the past 48 hours or so, Lazio have been increasingly linked with Przyborek, who has been described as one of the most promising teenagers in Polish football. The 19-year-old is a youth product of Pogon Szczecin, a mid-table club in Poland’s top flight.
Przyborek has been a member of the first team since 2023. This season, he has thus far made 19 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists. His contract with the club is only valid until June 2027. Therefore, Lazio tried to pounce on the opportunity by submitting a low-ball offer.
According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Italian capital side offered €4.5 million, but their bid was swiftly turned down by Pogon. Nevertheless, Claudio Lotito and Fabiani could try their luck with a new and improved offer in the coming days, as Sarri still expects the arrival of a new midfielder.
Despite the arrival of Kenneth Taylor, the Lazio head coach insisted that Matteo Guendouzi wasn’t properly replaced. For his part, Przyborek also wouldn’t be a natural heir for the Frenchman, as the young Pole is a playmaker who thrives in the No.10 role, but perhaps he could prove to be Luis Alberto’s long-awaited successor.
