Bournemouth are making swift and decisive steps in their quest to sign Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas.
The Biancocelesti’s January transfer campaign has been entangled with the Cherries, who pipped them for Ferencvaros youngster Alex Toth. The Premier League club is also in the running for Brazilian teenager Rayan, who is another target for Lazio.
In recent hours, reports in Italy revealed that Bournemouth have set their sights on Mandas , who is destined to leave Formello this month after failing to make a single appearance in Serie A since Maurizio Sarri’s return to the club last summer. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, as Wolves were keen to sign him in the past.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Bournemouth are currently engaged in talks with the goalkeeper’s agent, as they look to close an agreement. The source reveals that the English club is simultaneously negotiating a deal with the Aquile, proposing a loan with an obligation to buy for €17.
Matteo Moretto claims that the deal is at an even more advanced stage, with Mandas already agreeing to join Bournemouth. The Italian journalist also claims that Lazio are willing to accept a loan with an option to buy worth €20 million, though they would prefer to add an obligation to buy in the deal, or even better, a permanent transfer.
Mandas joined Lazio in the summer of 2023, completing a transfer from OFI Crete for a figure just above €1 million. Therefore, the custodian’s sale would constitute a major capital gain for the Biancocelesti.
