The Italian national team is deemed by many as a dark horse contender for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.

Italy aims to pull off a run to the final and will look to do so beginning with its group stage opener against Turkey.

Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini has not yet declared the full starting 11 that will take on Turkey.

As noted by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio forward Ciro Immobile is slated to be among the starters that will lead Italy in this massive encounter.

Juventus’ duo of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini are expected to form Italy’s center-back pairing for this matchup. Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi did make Italy’s Euro 2020 squad, so he will certainly be ready to appear in this match if called upon.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is on par to miss this match due to a knee injury. Thus, the likes of Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella will now have hefty midfield responsibilities in Verratti’s absence.

All signs point to Immobile earning the starting center-forward nod over Torino’s Andrea Belotti. Immobile will look to pull off a statement performance in this match.

Italy aims to collect all three points from this much-anticipated matchup.
