Leeds United clinch promotion to Premier League

Huddersfield Town's 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the John Smith's Stadium on Friday guaranteed Leeds United a spot in next season's English Premier League competition.

Leeds sit atop the Championship on 87 points with two matchdays remaining, while West Brom stayed five points behind with only one game to play. Leeds will clinch the title by earning just one point against either Derby County (11th in the table) on Sunday or versus Charlton Athletic (21st) on July 22.

Brentford are on 81 points and could earn automatic promotion to the Premier League with a pair of victories. They face Stoke City (18th) on Saturday and then end the campaign against Barnsley (last place) next Wednesday.

Friday's result was also massive for Huddersfield, who rose to six points clear of the relegation zone.
