'Let’s not get carried away' – ESPN pundits debate Chelsea’s current form

Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has joined his ESPN colleagues again to debate Chelsea’s recent form after coming back to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 away from home on Saturday night.

It marked three wins in a row for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and an up tick in form and performances lately.

However, ESPN’s team are not getting carried away with that, drawing on the recent embarrassing thrashing by Arsenal that was just weeks ago.

Former Blues defender Leboeuf has often been one of the more negative voices on Chelsea this season, especially with the ownership and criticisms of the squad build and lack of experience.

But he has admitted that things appear to be getting a bit better at Chelsea now.

Turning a corner or getting carried away?

Steve Nicol on Chelsea’s recent form: “Well, the question is, is it because of what Chelsea is doing or is it because the rest have sort of fallen off a cliff a little? So I’m not quite in the camp of ‘I think Chelsea are on the rise’. I think I’m still in a camp of ‘the caught up because the rest of them have been so inconsistent’. Only two weeks ago, Chelsea got battered five by Arsenal. Let’s not get carried away.”

Frank Leboeuf: “It’s true and I’m with you, you will need more evidence to prove that everything is getting better but you know, the Arsenal game, it can be taken maybe as an accident because before that they are like four or five, six games where they didn’t lose the game, and they weren’t getting better.

“So yes, I agree with you. Maybe the other team are inconsistent and Chelsea’s inconsistent. But you have to give them some credit that it is getting better. And again, a few weeks ago, they would have lost it [game against Nottingham] for sure. So when I talked about character that is getting a little bit better we are far from the Chelsea that we have known, but, you know, let’s give them some encouragement and say that it’s getting better.”
