Tottenham have entered the race to sign the RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons this summer.

The 22-year-old is a target for Chelsea as well, but the Blues have not been able to wrap up the move despite working on the deal for weeks. Tottenham are now prepared to enter the race, and it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done.

The player will cost them €70 million, and he could solve a lot of their attacking problems. Simons is regarded as an “exceptional player”.

Daniel Levy key to Simons transfer

According to the German publication Bild, Daniel Levy might have a key role to play in the transfer. He has a good relationship with Oliver Mintzlaff from Leipzig, and it will be interesting to see if that can help facilitate a move for the 22-year-old.

Meanwhile, a report from The Telegraph claims that the 22-year-old could be open to a move to Tottenham this summer.

Spurs need Xavi Simons

Tottenham are in desperate need of a versatile attacker like him who can slot into multiple roles and help out with goals and creativity. The player is quite young, and he will only improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a star for Tottenham.

Tottenham and Chelsea will both be able to offer him UEFA Champions League football this season, and therefore, it would not be a surprise if the player is attracted to joining both clubs.

Journalist Tom Barclay has revealed that the player is likely to command premium wages. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are ready to pay up.

They have failed to sign players like Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White this summer. They will not want to miss out on another quality target this summer. It would be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days.
