Leyton Orient find themselves in a difficult position, stuck near the relegation zone in League One.
Whilst Port Vale are currently at the bottom of the table in 24th place with 21 points, there are only three points splitting 16th place Blackpool and 23rd-place Northampton.
Unfortunately for Orient, they sit firmly in the middle of this, in 18th with 32 points, only one above the relegation zone cut off.
Now, they’ll be headed into the second half of the season without one of their centre midfielders.
20-year-old Jack Moorhouse has ended his loan spell from Manchester United to the League One side, after primarily being used in their cup games.
Although Moorhouse had a run of important appearances in League One throughout December, in the league he’s primarily bee na cameo player off the bench.
Now, Leyton Orient have confirmed his departure on their official website, announcing: “Midfielder Jack Moorhouse has returned to parent club Manchester United after an agreement was reached between both clubs.”
Speaking about Moorhouse returning to Old Trafford, Orient manager Richie Wellens commented: “Jack is undoubtedly a very talented footballer and I think our fans have seen that in flashes this season.”
He continued: “Given the situation we currently find ourselves in, we thought it may limit his game time and we have been very open with Manchester United about this.
“We value our relationship with them and, with him returning, we have been able to bring someone else in to fill the space in the squad.”
This marks the end of Moorhouse’s first spell away from United with loan spells being a key tool to help the development of young players.
With deadline day is now over, ruling out a stint away for the second half of the season, the young midfielder will now reintegrate with Travis Binnion’s Under-21s side.
