Chelsea’s comeback to win 3-2 last night meant plenty of good vibes at full time, but things weren’t so rosy at the break.
2-0 down at home to their rivals West Ham after a dreadful 45 minutes, the fans in the stadium were booing pretty loudly. Trevoh Chalobah even got involved with one of them near the pitch as he walked off.
At full time, Liam Rosenior was asked about that incident:
“He definitely didn’t [argue] at the end of the game when the whole stadium were cheering his performance,” Rosenior pointed out, moving the topic on from that one incident.
“Trevoh was excellent. Look, this is a club with huge demands. The fans pay fortunes to watch us play. They demand the minimum that we win duels.
“We’ve run for each other and I felt in the first half that wasn’t there. But I have to say, I have to give credit to the team, the subs who came on. Enzo Fernandez was magnificent for 95 minutes. And we showed in the end what the fans demand in terms of what we give to this club.”
We hope that fan is feeling pretty foolish now – although perhaps it was getting fired up like that which got the team going for the second period. They certainly showed a lot of fight and character despite the big pressure coming from the stands.
Rosenior keeps saying all the right things, and is really winning fans over.
Marc Cucurella also spoke at full time, pointing out that it was Chelsea’s strength off the bench which had got the job done for his team.
Cucurella also spoke about the sort of team spirit which is helping his team to big victories like this recently.
