All the pressure is on Manchester United’s opponents, Chelsea, on Saturday night, in a must-win game for the Blues.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior was full of praise for United interim boss Michael Carrick in his pre-match press conference, but faced some tough questions on the club’s position.

The Blues have won just one of their last five games, and Rosenior sent a strong message to his players ahead of Manchester United’s visit.

Liam Rosenior sends warning

When asked about how good a job Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick is doing, Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior was full of praise.

“Well, Michael, firstly, as a player, I greatly admire him. Secondly, as a coach, I know he’s an amazing coach because he did a fantastic job with Middlesbrough for a period of time where they were pushing consistently at the top end of the Championship.

“I’m not surprised in terms of the points return that he’s got there because he’s a very, very good coach and a good guy.”

Rosenior then turned the focus onto his group of players, saying: “We know we have to play our best to win a difficult game on Saturday.”

It’s a direct message to his Chelsea team, who are 18th in the Premier League form table, winning just once in their last five games. Since March, no team in Europe’s top five leagues has lost more times than them (six out of nine).

Manchester United can all but confirm their spot in next season’s Champions League with a win on Saturday, but are set to be without key defenders in the game.

A big clash awaits

Chelsea have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League home games against United, but this match could be one of their toughest yet.

It’s a big chance for Manchester United to capitalise, coming up against a team devoid of any confidence in Chelsea, who need to win if they want to keep any Champions League hopes alive.

A win at Stamford Bridge would see United go ten points clear of 6th place and, in turn, clear in the Champions League spots – Michael Carrick’s side should be going into this one aiming for a fast start.
