There are reports of a split within the Milan hierarchy causing the collapsed Mattia Liberali transfer to Catanzaro, but the player is determined to snub Torino for the Serie B side.

Liberali had seemed to be all set for the move to Catanzaro at a nominal fee, with the Rossoneri receiving 50 per cent of the future sale.

This is because he is down to the final year of his contract at San Siro.

Liberali was all ready for Catanzaro

However, this morning the whole thing ground to a halt, as Milan did not give the 18-year-old the all clear to travel for his medical.

Now Calciomercato.it suggest the situation is still very much in chaos, caused by a split behind the scenes between the various Milan directors.

It is claimed that Giorgio Furlani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic believe he would be better served going to Torino or even remaining with his current club, whereas director of sport Igli Tare is pushing him towards Catanzaro.

As for Liberali, he is convinced that Catanzaro represents the right next step in his career and wants to stand by the agreement he reached with them.

Torino are in the background, but have not yet made a formal proposal, so there is still some confusion.
