Tottenham Hotspur could be set to part ways, at least temporarily, with Antonín Kinský, as Ligue 1 side Lille OSC open talks over a loan deal for the 22-year-old Czech goalkeeper, according to L’Équipe.
Kinský, who only arrived in North London six months ago from Slavia Prague, made an impression during a short spell in the first team last season. He stepped up admirably when Guglielmo Vicario was sidelined with an ankle injury, making ten appearances under Ange Postecoglou and showing maturity beyond his years between the sticks.
Now, with Thomas Frank taking over the reins and Vicario expected to reclaim his No.1 role, Spurs may look to send Kinský out on loan to secure regular first-team football, a crucial next step in his development.
Lille’s interest in Kinský comes amid uncertainty surrounding their current first-choice keeper, Lucas Chevalier. The French international is reportedly on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain, who are eyeing him as part of their long-term succession plan amid contract issues with Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Having already explored alternatives like NEC Nijmegen’s Robin Roefs, Marseille’s Jeffrey de Lange, and Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes, the French club now view Kinský as their priority target. A loan deal is currently being negotiated, with Lille looking to bring in the Spurs talent for the upcoming season.
For Spurs, this would be a sensible move for a player with clear long-term potential. With Fraser Forster still on the books and Vicario fit again, sending Kinský out to gain experience in a top European league could prove valuable. It would also align with the club’s broader youth development strategy, bringing in top young talent and giving them the platform to grow. However, will it leave us short at a key position should god forbid, Vicario get injured again?
That said, any temporary exit must be carefully weighed against the need for goalkeeper depth across four competitions, including Champions League football. Should the deal go through, Tottenham fans will certainly be keeping a close eye on how Kinský fares in Ligue 1, a potential future No.1 learning his trade on foreign soil.
