Archie Gray wants Ange Postecoglou to continue at Tottenham Hotspur for a third season

Archie Gray could not have expected a better debut season at Tottenham Hotspur after joining from Leeds United last summer.

The teenager barely got a chance to play in his favoured midfield role but was entrusted to do a job in defence amid an injury crisis at the club, and he repaid the faith of Ange Postecoglou. He has made 46 appearances across all competitions, including 11 in the UEFA Europa League.

While Archie Gray managed just one minute off the bench in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao last week, his contributions throughout the campaign cannot be overlooked. The England youth international clocked 840 minutes across 11 Europa League games.

Ange Postecoglou has trusted Gray fully and given him plenty of opportunities to shine, which has not gone unnoticed by the 19-year-old when reacting to recent news concerning the future of the Tottenham gaffer. Despite leading the club to European glory, Postecoglou’s job at N17 is not safe . The Greek-Aussie tactician is wary that Daniel Levy has been doing his homework on a host of possible replacements.

When asked if Postecoglou deserved a third season, Gray told Sky Sports News:

“Yeah, definitely.

“It’s been a great season this year, and it’s been a rollercoaster of a season as well. We’ve had some really tough times, and we’ve stuck together.

“He’s big on things like family, and I think that was the main thing that helped us to get the final and win the final is our morals of what we’re like as a team. We believe in each other, and we were like brothers going out there on the pitch in the final.”

Ange guided the North Londoners back to the Champions League after a three-year hiatus by winning the Europa League trophy in Spain. Despite the continental success, Spurs ended the 2024/25 season with a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion at home on Sunday. The defeat on the final day made it 22 for the league season.

If, as expected, a change in the dugout is made, it is because of the Lilywhites’ unacceptable performances and finish in the league. Without or without Ange at helm, Levy has to be proactive in the transfer window. Signing the right players with mentality to win in the summer will be a step in the right direction if Tottenham want to close the gap on their rivals next year and compete for more trophies.
